Challenge Every Child Grant Instructions The goals of the “Challenge Every Child’ Grants for Saint Paul Public School Classroom Teachers are: 1) To help provide students with extraordinary learning opportunities in literacy, math, or science. 2) To challenge students to reach new levels of academic rigor 3) To challenge students to gain new insights into these areas. The program provides educational opportunities through grants ranging from $500 - $3,000 to full-time licensed classroom teachers (K-12). The total amount of the “Challenge Every Child” Grants to be awarded is $100,000, which was presented to the school district through the Saint Paul Public Schools Foundation by an anonymous donor. Guidelines: 1) Proposals must demonstrate a link to challenging academic rigor in the areas of literacy, math, or science. 2) The funds are for projects that could not be funded by other sources. 3) The funds from the grant must be spent by the end of the current school year (2002-2003). Criteria: Proposals will be reviewed and ranked by a committee according to the following criteria, with top-ranked proposals receiving funding: • How closely the project supports challenging, clearly identified, instructional strategies in literacy, math, or science. •How directly the students are impacted by the project. • How clearly the proposal describes its implementation, outcomes, and evaluation plans. • How many students would benefit from the project. Application information: Each question on the application is to be answered in full. The form is intentionally brief and numerous attachments are not necessary. (No more than one additional page accepted.) This form may be replicated on computer and forwarded by email.
